ARTNWORDZ

We are both passionate about words,

just ask Micha and you would hear her say: “Grants always had something to say so he is a natural at this!” (This may also be due to Grant’s professional acting background all over the U.S and the world for 30 years).

As for Micha, Grant would say : “She has a really great command of the English language with an eye for details and thirst for knowledge of how things work, and since she is originally from Berlin Germany; she may even speak better english then me!” (Micha was originally a map maker in Berlin)

Even though Artnwordz has only been around showing original artworks for l and 1/2 years, it’s been quite a wild ride, especially considering Grant didn’t even want to do the artwork in the first place! Yes, this was Micha’s grand scheme /idea and she threatened to leave Grant if he did not go along with such a wonderful idea. And wonderful it is according to others apparently !

Now our Artworks can be found at galleries, live shows and retail stores throughout the U.S, exhibiting the originals and duplicates and just newly added are wholesale Trade Shows (international Home Decor  & Gift Markets) where we also offer the artwork on high quality  decorative pillows .

Grant and Micha’s art will be featured in hotels beginning December 2016 and are currently represented by Art Studio 101 in Scottsdale AZ. As for the artwork itself Grant and Micha split the duties of creating the pieces . Grant is the one with Hamsters running around inside his head so his creations are the more elaborate gallery items, Micha’s are more detailed oriented and easy going .

So what are you actually looking at ? Good question !

THE SHORT VERSION ?  We scour the U.S to save damaged World Atlas, Dictionaries and rare Sheet Musics and turn them into artwork before they disappear for good .Our paper is currently up to 150 years old. Each duplicate is a one of a kind because we match the top words to the artwork and the artwork to the paper so everything you see is there for a reason ! All you have to do is take a very close look at  the paper and it should start to come into view. We then actually paint on the paper using what is known as Mixed Media Artistry. From digital outlining and photography to free hand painting with charcoal, chalk, water colors, graphic pens and two oil based crayons.

Well there you have it . This is Artnwordz where we love what we do and do what we love , thanks for appreciating our work !

 Best Grant and Micha

Deb Wight Studios

I knew I was an artist for as long as I can remember. Creative expression is not just a desire; it is my way of life. My studio was thoughtfully designed into my home in the Sacremento Mountains of New Mexico. Full of windows, nature inspires my creativity. When I’m away from my studio, I can be found doting over my toy poodle, Daisy June. She is truly a member of the family. Me and my husband, Albert love to entertain family and friends as well as travel. Our travels always inspire me to create new and fresh work.

Eclipse Creations

My name is Carrie, and I’ve always been an art kid. Unfortunately, sometimes maneuvering the adult world means you can’t do the things you love all the time. So in my early 30s, I found myself looking for a creative outlet, that might also be useful to the people around me. Soap making answered the call, and I started studying, prepping, and practicing. The artist in me loved the ability to create, design, and discover, while my inner (and outer) nerd rejoiced in the science of it. With the help of my fiance, I started my own small business and in 2018, Eclipse Creations was born.

Since then, we’ve grown a bit. I’ve broadened my horizons to include all sorts of bath and body products, including bath bombs, massage oils, salt soaks, and solid shampoo, bubble bath, & lotions, with more in the works. I’ve been making my own essential oil blends for some of the soaps and several other products, and I love all the different methods to making them. I like to do my research for new projects, because I want to do things well and properly (you should hear my rant about shampoo bars, haha).

We currently live, work, play, and create in Pacific Grove, California with our three fur babies and are delighted to be a part of this community.

Fattoria Muia/Amidon & d’Ailly

In Ohio I started cooking and baking when I was 9 years old, influenced by my mom and her good friends. I got married to Carl in 1961 and 6 weeks later moved to Seattle, WA. We had a wonderful time doing scuba, boating and cooking all kinds of seafood. We moved to New Orleans, ate a lot and learned more about food, spices and cultures. Eventually we moved to Carmel Valley and started an olive grove for oil. Our Fattoria Muia Extra Virgin olive oil won the Good Foods Award in San Francisco in 2016. A few years before this I started making mustards, balsamic w/ real fruit, jams, cakes, pies, candies, marshmallows and pickled veggies. I am a member of Les Dames Escoffier & served on the board for a few years. I was also a member of American Institute of Wine & Food and served on the board for a few years. We were members of the Knights Of The Vine for a while. Great time with them. I wrote a cookbook, “Dishing It Out”, helped wash elephants for almost 10 years at Monterey Zoo. I love elephants! They are incredible. We were in various car clubs over the years. My hobbies have been food, bobbin lace-making, arts/crafts, hybridizing day lilies, growing ancient roses, catering weddings & BBQ’s for different groups.

I have always been fascinated by the variety of food and spices in the world and also all the amazing animals. We raised 2 wonderful daughters and will be marred 60 years as of September 2021.

HazMat-Taste the Hot Zone

I have been a paramedic since 1982 and it all began when one of the fire-houses started growing their own chiles out back. Every week or so, they would give me their chile harvest expecting me to return with a big jar of sauce for the station. Boldly taking the challenge, I would go home, open all the doors and windows, don my mask, gloves and goggles, and get to work like a mad scientist in a hazardous materials lab! Fearlessly, these brave first responders tried every variation I created. I knew I was on to something when they started asking for more… “HazMat” was born!

For my original award-winning hot sauce, I’ve combined sweet, ripe Blenheim Apricots with blazing hot habaneros to create a blend of natural ingredients that is not only dangerously hot, but amazingly flavorful! With your safety being my primary concern, I have taken the necessary precautions to contain this dangerous concoction into each bottle so that it may be transported to your home or station.

In 2019, the field medics and EMTs were craving a little more heat. This was a bit more challenging as I too, had to test every batch! Thankfully, I had a great panel of volunteers to give me feedback and make recommendations for the next member of the HazMat line-up. Scary Cherry does not disappoint! This one brings the flavors of sweet dark cherries…and just when you think, “This isn’t so bad!”…the scorching heat of Ghost Peppers punches you right in the face! Scary Cherry is a new favorite for whatever you like to put hot sauce on and another award-winner, to boot!

So far we’ve won 12 international hot sauce awards (2017-2020)… you don’t have to take our word for it, see for yourself – Taste the “Hot Zone”…. WE DARE YOU!

I originally grew up in Pacific Grove but wanted to experience a new place so I sold everything and moved to Maui when I was 24. I have always been a creative person as well as many of my family members. I started getting back into jewelry making in 2015 and had my first farmers market in March of that year. I really enjoy creating art and jewelry and I have combined them. I moved back to Monterey in 2018 and have been making jewelry full time for 2 years. While I was on Maui my jewelry was primarily shell/ocean inspired but I have expanded my horizons and now use shells, gemstones, feathers, seed beads, resin, sustainably sourced butterfly wings, pressed flowers and my own paintings in my one of a kind pieces. I call it Boho with a Beachy Twist. I’ve gotten so busy that I have taught my husband how to make some of the jewelry and he takes care of the day to day type of the business.

Nece’s Gluten Free Baked Goods

Dearest Friend,

Changing the way people see and taste gluten free has been my (Nece’s) mission from the start. After battling through my own journey to freedom, I felt empowered to bring others with me. Now 13 years into a gluten free lifestyle, this mom of three boys and one girl had decided enough is enough. It is time for gluten free to change from tasteless and expensive to affordable and delicious! I’ve been working together with my husband and family of taste testers to redefine what it means to be gluten free.

As a busy family on the go, having options that everyone can share and enjoy is a must! I know they felt my pain at not being able to celebrate because of my dietary restrictions and I didn’t want them to suffer too. There had to be a solution and, out of that idea, Nece’s GF was born: a revolutionary concept where there is no need to fear cross contamination or flavorless versions of gluten-containing counterparts . This will be a place to revisit memories of hot, fresh baked heaven from childhood; to rediscover the old and find new favorites.
Nece’s Gluten Free will be a place for sharing our own stories of struggle and victory, between friends, while goodies are purchased. It’s my dream to bring a HOME for the gluten free community here on the Monterey Peninsula.

Since its inception and through many years of tedious mixing, sampling and mistakes, Nece’s has been dedicated to bringing products that are flavorful, incorporating the freshest and best ingredients on the market with a mission to remain completely free of contamination and compromise. It is our calling to impact our community through connection with our customers and relationships with other local businesses to provide the best gluten free baked goods ANYWHERE, right here on the peninsula. This cart is our start.
With love and blessings,

Patrick Wanis Art

Australian Patrick Wanis is a self-taught artist/photographer who began his passion in art as a teenager by painting in oils after being inspired by the surrealists and impressionists.

Wanis unconsciously ‘paints with a camera’ – blurring the lines between painting and photography. He creates colorful worlds where the viewer is transported into an experience that cannot be defined by the technical lens as much as the ‘painter’s’ eyes.

Inspired by all that is beautiful and unique, Wanis captures more than a moment: he envelopes an experience within a world and compels the viewer to see and feel a deep emotion which triggers the desire to enter the canvas of the photo.

For the past 20 years, Wanis has lived by the ocean, in Mexico, Spain, Africa, The Caribbean and the US. His obsession with water is revealed in his photography – every work contains water or is set by water and focuses on the power of light, shadows and reflections. His photos of women are provocative, often referencing the link between the female, water and nature.

Although the themes may vary in his abundant photographic work & series, dramatic lighting, eros and surreal worlds call out to the viewer to participate and immerse him or herself in the otherworld.

A self-taught artist who began his passion as a teenager by painting in oils, inspired by the surrealists and impressionists, and later, while traveling the world, moved to photography to satiate his desire for new and rapid expressions of creation. Wanis uses a camera to paint in light.

FROM THE ARTIST

What if the world you see doesn’t really exist, but rather another world of extraordinary beauty, sensuality and depth surrounds you constantly and incessantly? I want that to consume my audience.

While working in Africa as a dancer, choreographer and entertainer, I awoke to learn that pain, suffering & misery are not the only ways to express art or to form bonds with others: I could connect with people via laughter, joy, wonder and beauty.

Just as dancing and painting are processes of emotional expression and self-realization, so too, is photography which gives me the opportunity to immerse myself in the environment and to rapidly create multiple finished art pieces.

I use the camera the same way a painter uses a brush & oil paint on a canvas; the technical aspects cannot get in the way; I focus on the emotion, colors, lights, shadow and forms.

In every work, there is water – a source of life and a means to convey or trigger emotion and intensity: the sunrise over the ocean moves you expand with joy and look upward and outward; the dark sky and rain moves you to shrink with isolation or reflection and look down and inward.

I spend hours in each place and moment to bond, unite and immerse myself in the emotion and surroundings, and to translate that into a photo – just like a scene from a surreal movie. In the process, I want to feel and be consumed by nature’s elements and all my senses.

Now, you will enter and be there, and you will finish and add to the scene & experience as you also live it through your senses and psyche.
My work invites you to fully feel and embrace every emotion – as part of the richness of the human experience.

I desire that you may enjoy the experience of my artwork!

Sheet Metal Happens

Carl Muia is the artist behind Sheet Metal Happens. An engineer (BSME, Carnegie Institute of Technology 1960) and with 45 years in the Aerospace, Defense and Contract Engineering Services in Seattle WA (Engineering Corporation of America) and several years doing business in Russia and other Eastern European Countries, he has a clear history of designing, building and solving problems.

For 28 years (1975 to 2013) Carl served as a Reserve Police officer for the King County Sheriffs Department in Washington state. For 22 of those years he worked under cover.

Carl’s love of metalworking started when he was in college in the late 50’s in Pittsburgh, Pa. He earned his degree by working after classes and on weekends as an body man , learning the craft of metal shaping used to repair, restore and customize cars.

He revisited his interest in auto-body work after he retired in 1998 when he moved to Carmel Valley, Ca. where he designed and built custom cars until 2016. See www.sheetmetalhappens.com to see some of the cars he built.

Sometime that year Carl discovered all the tools and equipment he used to design and build custom cars were ideal for shaping metal into abstract sculptures and other useful metal items. The studio was born.

Carl spends most of his time designing and building pieces of his design or commission projects. His studio borders an olive grove that where he, his wife of 60 years, and his family grow olives for Extra Virgin Olive Oil marketed under the brand “FACTTORIA MUIA EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL”. See www.fattoriamuia,com.

My love affair with gold and turquoise begun in 2011. However, the gold I speak of is not real gold but yellow brass and the turquoise I speak of is not the gemstone but a lovely verdigris patina. For me brass mixed with various shades of verdigris is a stunning and magical combination. Brass has the ability to be used in an array of jewelry techniques making it an exciting metal to develop and expand on new ideas. For the verdigris portion, as a young adult I had a passion for chemistry, so when I stumbled across some pictures of patina wall art years later there was no stopping my imagination and I begun to developed a variety of verdigris concoctions, techniques and fumes that result in wonderful colors. My newest finishes are a combination of the techniques mentioned above, these create unique finishes and patterns, making each piece a one-of-a-kind, wearable art piece. I hope those who buy my jewelry love it as much as I love making it.

I believe that the best way to capture the oceans and her waters is by the bold strokes of oils. As you look at my work you will see the inspired use of color in hints of Van Gogh and Monet. The strokes of color suggest motion and movement giving a sense of life to each of the animals in the scenes. The same is true for water movement and land scapes. Color evokes movement in a still work. My collectors tell me they can get lost in a piece because motion, whether in the trees or animals, gives them a sense of awareness.
